Human + Nature Nest Building, participatory art event at Fresh Pond Day, May 20, 2017, Cambridge, MA
Nest materials I offered were biodegradeable, human-made, and nature-made, including: grass, hair, jute, sisal, hemp, flower petals, feathers, paper twist ties, moss and cotton. Visitors built nests inside bowls made from palm leaves. I had previously painted wooden eggs with washable, non-toxic paint, and kept them tucked away out of sight. When each visitor finished building their nest, I gave them an egg as a gift to place in it.
